JUICY BLITZ YOUTH INVOLVEMENT PROJECT

We are a health, education and participation project providing open access and youth led social action projects as a vehicle for personal and social development for young people aged 10-19 (up to 24 with a learning disability).

We work with young people to:

  • Become more active citizens.
  • Increase their likelihood of successfully engaging in learning, training and employment.
  • Make healthier lifestyle choices and increase their personal well being
  •  Increase self confidence and aspirations for the future.

With over sixteen years experience, we are youth work specialists and ensure that young people are at the heart of everything we do.

OPEN ACCESS DROP IN

Drop ins provide opportunities to engage in positive activities both educational & recreational. Mental and physical health are a core theme running through our Drop-ins. Young people run a Cafe providing free fresh fruit smoothies and cooked food for others. Activities combat the local takeaway culture, designed in response to rising obesity levels.

PROJECTS

Projects – Young people have full ownership of these sessions from design right through to delivery. The projects last 6-12 weeks, the group chooses a social/ community issue and designs a project to tackle it. Recent examples include a Christmas Giving project; collecting donations of food and money for local families in need, and Green Fingers, turning the underused Juicy Blitz garden into a beautiful and creative space that the whole community can access and enjoy.

1 TO 1 SUPPORT

We offer 121 support on a range of issues including emotional support, employment and training access, housing and benefits, financial planning and relationships support.

We also offer a weekly mentoring service at Oasis Academy Brightstowe for young people who may be experiencing difficulties.

Edge of Care/Custody: we are piloting a mentoring programme with Bristol City Council, providing intensive 1:1 support for young people at the edge of care or custody.
